Perhaps you noticed Google’s free song download on Valentine’s day? I like the concept in theory but am surprised they didn’t try to target it to make it a bit more interesting… they have all of this “non-personal” data on my search patterns, email, profession, etc and I get served a free download of Tony Bennett. Hmm.

How about something less mainstream, maybe Love Interruption by Jack White or even less mainstream Love Love Love by Of Monsters and Men?

How about offering me a different download each time I come back to search - perhaps offer up free downloads of different artists from Google Music that they recommend.

I use Shazam everyday and have been for years. I don’t mind advertising — might go as far to say I (gulp) enjoy it — when it’s one, clever and two, targeted to me. Today I clicked on a Geico ad. All I can say is Geico, one day, I just might switch car insurance companies (one day when I have time) based solely on your marketing prowess.
